Short Stories!

Hi classmates!

I am teaching a short story (Fishers' "Miss Cynthie") on Wednesday and am looking for a creative exercise the class can do in pairs or groups. I just used chart paper so I am trying to steer clear of it. I am not really teaching the literary elements of the story since its a humanities class. I am instead using it to talk about the Harlem Renaissance and the effect of performance art on society. Can anyone think of anything? Thanks

Candice

I don't know the story. What kind of activity are you thinking about -- writing, reading, dramatic, etc...? You mentioned a connection with performance art -- could something spring from that? I bet students could get really creative w/ performance art.

I was thinking about drama maybe, but I am trying to get them inspired by literature and so I don't think we are at the drama stage yet. The story is about dance anyway. I am trying to find interesting reflection activites or in class writing prompts.
